The Oliver Tractor - A Pioneer In American Farming History
Oliver Tractors have been changing the way that the American farmer has run his farm since their creation in 1929. These tractors are high quality and durable machines, that set out to revolutionize the way that people saw farm machinery. They were a company that was created after the merging of four smaller companies, American Seeding Machine Company, Oliver Chilled Plow Works, Hart-Parr Tractor Company, and the Nicolas and Shepherd Company. These four companies merged together and created what is now known as the Oliver Tractor.
This company created tractors and other pieces of farm machinery for years, and is now known as an antique brand, that is no longer in manufacturing. These tractors are known as valuable antiques, and they are prized for their role in the American farming history. Highly valued and shown off at fairs and musuems for such machines, these farm pieces of machinery changed the way that a lot of people saw farming, and set the stage for modern farm equipment today.
In 1960, the company was adopted and bought by the White Motor Corporation, and was discontinued when the company filed bankruptcy in 1985. By 1948, the Oliver company had an entirely new line of tractors, and they even released a diesel engine model later on. The diesel engine model did not sell as well as the Oliver 60, Oliver 70, or Oliver 80, which were other models at the time. But they were still recognized for being able to produce that kind of a tractor with a new kind of engine.
The White Motor Corporation was already well known for creating different kinds of machines and buying other kinds of farm machinery companies. They bought the Oliver Tractor company on November 1, 1960. The White Motor Corporation released the Oliver 80 model, also known as the White 80 model, and that was the last genuine Oliver tractor that was released before the merging of the two companies took affect and the models were mass produced with other models from White Motor Company. None the less, these tractors are still valued for the revolutionary ideas on the front of America's farming industry.
